Everything You Need to Know About Our Device, Installation, and Services

CUFFSAFE will assist officers in the removal of handcuffs from detainees and making a very dangerous task safer for detainee and officer alike. CUFFSAFE reduces potential elbow strike, head butting and bites etc to the officer when performing mandatory search or 'pat down'.

CUFFSAFE can be installed next to the fingerprinting bay to assist in fingerprinting a prisoner by unlocking one hand at a time. If the prisoner/detainee becomes abusive take one step back and call for assistance. Detainee cannot go anywhere.

CUFFSAFE will assist officers when having to perform a mandatory search/ ‘pat down’ of a detainee within a police station or prison.

CUFFSAFE can be used as a temporary restraining device to secure detainees while waiting to be processed within a police station, charge room or holding dock.

Installed in a Courthouse, the CUFFSAFE device can be unobtrusive in a court room where a defendant may be cuffed by one hand and seated without being in shackles. This may also help to eliminate visual prejudice towards the defendant by the jury etc.

The CUFFSAFE device can also be used within:

  • Public Hospitals for securing detainees requiring medical attention when affected by drugs.
  • Correctional facilities state and federal.
  • Customs/border patrol stations.
  • Pre-trial detention centres.
  • Mental Health facilities.
  • Military Prisons.

Two recommended heights are:

  1. 1252mm/50″ has been identified as the best height to accommodate the majority of persons from western countries so as to enable the device to be used for persons cuffed to the front or rear. This allows a better line of sight for the officer to keep an eye on the person being detained and also puts the person handcuffed to the rear in a yielding position, off balance. Also helps prevent a safety issue to the officer by holding the detainees hands up at a high level helping to maintain control over the detainee.
  2. 1100mm/44″ is a designated machine for detainees handcuffed to the rear and communities with below average height.

CUFFSAFE Industries recommends at least one of each sized CUFFSAFE device installed in each location.

Custom height CUFFSAFE devices can be manufactured to accommodate specific applications, e.g. a 24″ unit for a courtroom dock installation. Please contact CUFFSAFE Industries for more information.

By choice, the machines should be secured to a concrete type floor by way of 4 x stainless steel “Chem-bolts” with stainless steel washers and nuts. (These are studs that are placed inside a pre drilled hole in the concrete and a chemical is added that melts the concrete to the stud).
